SemaGGames (‘we’, ‘us’, or ‘our’) operates the website https://semaggames.nl and a portfolio of Android mobile games, including but not limited to Word-EL, Lexodromos, WordleWar, Big Two, and Verbaal Geweld (collectively referred to as the ‘Services’).

This Privacy Policy explains what personal data we collect, why we collect it, how we use it, and what rights you have as a user. We are committed to handling your personal data in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and applicable Dutch data protection law.

3. Data We Collect and Why

3.1 Data Collected Automatically

When you use our games or visit our website, the following data may be collected automatically:

  • IP address — used for security, fraud detection, and spam prevention
  • Device identifiers (e.g. Android Advertising ID) — used for ad delivery and frequency capping via Google AdMob
  • Device type, operating system, and language settings — used for app functionality and analytics

3.2 Push Notifications (FCM)

If you have enabled push notifications, we collect and store a Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM) device token associated with a unique, anonymized player identifier. This is used solely to deliver in-game notifications (e.g. game invites, turn reminders). We do not link FCM tokens to your real identity.

3.3 Multiplayer and Game Server Data

For multiplayer games (e.g. Lexodromos, WordleWar), our game servers process and temporarily store:

  • Your anonymized player identifier
  • Game session data (moves, scores, game state)
  • Connection metadata including IP address

Your IP address may be permanently retained and used to block access if we detect abuse, unauthorized automated access, or attempts to disrupt our game servers.

3.4 Google Sign-In

If you choose to sign in using Google Sign-In, we receive from Google the basic profile information you have authorized (such as a display name and email address). We use this solely to identify your account across sessions and devices. We do not share this data with third parties beyond what is necessary to provide the service.

3.5 In-App Purchases

Purchases made within our apps (such as ‘Remove Ads’) are processed entirely by Google Play. We do not collect or store your payment details. We receive confirmation of the purchase from Google Play to enable the relevant in-app feature.

3.6 Website Comments

If you leave a comment on our website, we collect the data you enter in the comment form (name, email, comment text), your IP address, and your browser user agent string for spam detection purposes. An anonymized hash of your email address may be sent to the Gravatar service to check whether a profile picture is associated with it. 3.7 Website Cookies

Our website may set cookies in the following situations:

  • When you leave a comment: optional cookies saving your name, email, and website for up to one year
  • When you log in: session and login cookies lasting up to two weeks

4.1 Google AdMob

Our free games display ads served by Google AdMob. AdMob may collect device identifiers, approximate location, and usage data to serve personalized or non-personalized ads. 4.2 Firebase (Google)

We use Firebase services (Cloud Messaging and potentially Crashlytics/Analytics) provided by Google LLC. Firebase processes device data for the purposes described in section 3. Firebase data may be stored on servers located in the United States. Data transfers from the EU to the US are subject to appropriate safeguards (Standard Contractual Clauses) under Google’s Data Processing Addendum.

4.3 Google Play

App distribution, in-app purchases, and reviews are handled by Google Play. Google’s data collection in this context is governed by Google’s own privacy policy.

4.4 Hosting and Infrastructure

Our website and game servers are hosted by third-party hosting providers. These providers act as data processors and are contractually bound to process data only on our instructions and to implement appropriate security measures.

5. Legal Basis for Processing (GDPR)

We process your personal data on the following legal bases:

  • Legitimate interests (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR) — for server security, abuse prevention, game functionality, and improving our services
  • Consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR) — for push notifications (which you can withdraw at any time via device settings) and for personalized advertising where required

6. International Data Transfers

Some of our third-party service providers (including Google/Firebase and AdMob) are located in or transfer data to the United States. Where data is transferred outside the European Economic Area (EEA), we ensure appropriate safeguards are in place in accordance with Chapter V of the GDPR, including Standard Contractual Clauses approved by the European Commission.

7. Data Retention

We retain your data only as long as necessary for the purposes described in this policy:

  • Game server logs and session data: retained for up to 90 days unless abuse is detected
  • IP addresses flagged for abuse: retained indefinitely as evidence
  • FCM device tokens: retained while you have the app installed or until you withdraw consent
  • Google Sign-In data: retained while you maintain an active account
  • Website comments: retained indefinitely to support moderation
  • Crash and analytics data: retained per the retention settings of the applicable Firebase service (typically up to 14 months)

8. Your Rights Under GDPR

As a data subject in the European Economic Area, you have the following rights:

  • Right of access — to request a copy of the personal data we hold about you
  • Right to rectification — to request correction of inaccurate or incomplete data
  • Right to erasure (‘right to be forgotten’) — to request deletion of your data, subject to legal obligations

9. Children’s Privacy

Our games are not directed at children under the age of 13 (or under 16 where required by local law). We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe we have inadvertently collected data from a child, please contact us at info@semaggames.nl and we will promptly delete it.

Parental controls on Android devices can be used to restrict access to our games.

10. Embedded Content from Other Websites

Articles or pages on our website may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images). Embedded content from other websites behaves as if you had visited those websites directly. Those websites may collect data about you, use cookies, and monitor your interaction with the embedded content.

11. Data Security

We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your personal data against unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, or destruction. However, no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is completely secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security.

In the event of a data breach that is likely to result in a risk to your rights and freedoms, we will notify the relevant supervisory authority and, where required, you personally, within the timeframes required by the GDPR.

12. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the ‘Last updated’ date at the top of this document and provide notice on our website or through the app where appropriate. Your continued use of our Services after any changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.

13. Account Deletion Requests

You have the right to request the permanent deletion of your account and all associated personal data. To submit a deletion request, send an email to info@semaggames.nl from the email address linked to your account, with the subject line “Account Deletion Request”.

Upon receiving your request, we will permanently delete the account linked to that email address within 90 days. You will receive a confirmation email once the deletion has been completed. All personal data associated with your account will be removed, except where we are required to retain certain data to comply with legal obligations (for example, records of purchases) or to protect our legitimate interests (for example, IP addresses retained as evidence of abuse).

Please be aware that account deletion is permanent and irreversible. Once deleted, the email address used to register the account will be permanently blocked from being used to create a new account on any of our Services. Game progress, scores, and any other data associated with your account will be permanently lost and cannot be recovered.
